romney told a crowd of thousands in denver that wednesday's first debate with president obama won't be about winning or losing but what he called something bigger than that. romney plans to spend today preparing for the face-off at his hotel outside denver. president obama meanwhile is doing his debate cramming in nevada where he delivered pizzas to a local campaign office monday and thanked volunteers personally. >>> the faa is investigating why passenger seats came loose on three different american airlines flights. the latest incident happened monday aboard a new york to miami flight. on saturday a similar problem forced a boston to miami flight to make an emergency landing. american says that same plane was involved in a loose seat incident last week which they thought had been fixed. fortunately no one on the flights was hurt. both of the boeing 757s involved had recently gone through maintenance that involved moving the seats. american says there could be a problem with the way the seats fit into tracks on the floor. >>> a new york state college freshman murdered in her dorm

romney in the debate talked about how dodd-frank has created too big to fail banks. you believe there's a negative side chairing that committee with regard to insurance companies. we don't have very much time. maybe you can quickly give us -- >> the banks that are too big to fail have really -- have special status and guarantee and would help if they go under. i'm afraid that the insurance companies have gotten into this too, whether they have to pay for whatever might happen. insurance had nothing to do with the bailout. i nene bailout -- >> it's unfortunate we have to go. but it was aig and aig's problem wasn't traditional insurance it was derivatives. >> a few moments left in the trading week for europe. we'll get the close in about three minutes. don't go anywhere. h management m and the world's only tridion safety cell which can withstand over three and a half tons. small in size. big on safety. like in a special ops mission? you'd spot movement, gather intelligence with minimal collateral damage. but rather than neutralizing enemies in their sleep, you'd be targeting stocks to t

blood cells -- >> one of the funniest things i ever saw. >> the altitude affects romney differently. i think he breathes a little more. >> he's taller. >> maybe he trained for the debate in denver. right some remember max company city? >> i'm glad you're entertaining yourself. >> all preparation that matters, right? >> it is. jarrett, what do you think, are people underestimating the vice president's abilities with paul ryan? >> if they aren't, they shouldn't. he's quick on his feet. he's good at linking things to a narrative. i can't imagine he would want to go into the weeds with paul ryan and talk about budget baselines. he'll talk about the kind of narrative, the middle class, the folks that he believes -- >> the ones buried in the last four years? >> i think joe biden really does connect with average voters in a way most politicians don't. and i think it will be tough. >> tony, you and the steelers, man. anything happens to them, and i got to hear from you. >> i have not had a chance on air to congratulate you with the reds. amazing season. >> thank you. they're 5:1 odds. i think

're watching the debate wednesday night, who was that romney, hard right romney or was it massachusetts romney? >>le it, it was a little bit of both. it was a romney back in transition, i think. as one could expect, once he had won his primary, he moved back to the center, he was on a national stage as the presidential candidate. and he was trying to be a much more centrist politician than he could be when he was running for the republican primary. >> and, you know, there is something he tout multiple times as a republican governor, in the state of massachusetts, which is, as you know, at the time for him it was 87% democrat, he said he had to cross the aisle a lot to get anything done. let me play a little bit of when he was talking about that wednesday. >> i like the way we did it in massachusetts. i like the fact that in my state we had republicans and democrats come together, and work together. what you did instead was to push through a plan without a single republican vote. when massachusetts did something quite extraordinary, elected a republican senator, to stop oba care, you pushed it

interpretation of today's number. let's get the other side, the new jobs report forced republican mitt romney to alter his attack on the president. with reaction from mitt romney, here is jim acosta. >> reporter: after a couple of days of very positive reviews for his debate performance against president obama, mitt romney is running in political news that may be blunting that momentum. the new unemployment report showing that the jobless rate has dipped below 8%, really taking away one of his key lines of attack against the president. for months, mitt romney has been saying the president failed to take the nation's unemployment rate below 8%, but at an event here in coal country in virginia, romney found a new way to crunch the numbers. here is what he had to say. >> there were fewer new jobs created this month than last month, and the unemployment rate, as you noted this year, has come down very, very slowly. but it has come down nonetheless. the reason it has come down this year is primarily due to the fact that more and more people have just stopped looking for work. >> reporter: now for

afterwards the conversation about the debate obama is going to win. romney has been on the liberal, moderate, conservative side of almost every issue. and at some point america is going to have to say to yourself, can i trust which way the wind is going to blow on his policy issues if he becomes president. >> stephanie: right. how do you refute when he appears to have made up a new policy on the spot. it's like yes, you are. this has already been fact checked -- who -- >> polititfact? >> stephanie: no that looked at romney's budget. i don't know how you respond to that. >> yeah. >> stephanie: romney is just like na-uh. >> what? is that the answer? >> stephanie: okay. scottie in texas real quick. >> caller: hey stephanie this is scottie in texas. >> stephanie: yes. >> caller: as a former mormon i know what mitt romney wants to do, and this is what is frightening. mitt romney is a member of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints. he thinks the end is coming. i am fearful he will use that excuse to push the button and bring jesus back. and that is very ver
